Yes, it does not last long especially with discus I would think since you are feeding some meaty foods. The carbon will exhaust fast and would need to be replaced frequently if used in a filter.

definately get another filter. on my 75 Discus tank, I have bought a 2217 and a 2215 to keep it filtered. Definately go talk to Dan at Houston Aquarium Warehouse, I work there and he is a genious when it comes to these fish. Best looking fish and the Best price!

Rummy nose tetra, personally wouldn't do neons as they like it a little cooler but I know some have them in their discus tanks :)

Well today I was hand feeding my discus and my checkerboard pigeon didnt come up to eat. All the others ate, then maybe I thought it was scared of me for some reason (Ive been hand feeding them for like 4-5 days now) So I let the piece of frozen bloodworm go, but the discus still didnt go for food. All it did was swim against the powerhead's current. Anyone know what is wrong? Everyone in the tank seems to be fine. Some of the discus are more aggressive then others while eating. Could this have caused stress or something? Is there enough filtration and air? In my 90 gallon, im using a eheim 2217 and a maxi jet 1200 powerhead

does the "not eating" fish have clamped fins? If so, then he is either unhappy/sick. To be honest you really dont even need that much flow from a powerhead. I tried a powerhead and my discus hated it. Definately need something for surface aggitation though.

I'd install the power head low in the back of the tank and direct it toward the surface for as much turnover as possible to aid in oxygenation. A single 2217 is a little light for a 90 gal. I'd augment with another canister or possibly an AC 70 if you're not injecting co2. Discus are funny, sometimes they won't eat, then one day decide they will. If it keeps up, You may have to separate it to a small qt and try feeding it alone. Is it getting pushed around by the others at feeding time? Sometimes, the omega discus will get pushed away from the food so often, it stops trying.

I just aimed the powerhead to hit the surface of the tank. I will see what happens today and let yall know. My leopard snakeskin tends to push everyone away when eating, but everyone eats. I dont really notice clamp fins, but I will take a look today during feeding time. If I were to upgrade canisters, should I just buy 1 bigger one, or add another one?

I'd add another, that way if one filter quits, the other is still doing it's job. I'm a big fan of multiple filtration systems; belt AND suspenders.

ok well ive been checking out my fish and my checkerboard pigeon discus is fine now, but now its my wild green semi spotted discus. His fins seem clamped, unlike all the other discus. If all the other discus are healthy, what can be wrong?
