  • Yeah... the plants got a little crazy, specifically the sagattaria. It grew like a weed on co2. My other issue was the Java moss. It was like virus the way it spread and attached itself to EVERYTHING in the tank, particularly the sagattaria.

I'm actually doing a water change now. Give me 24 hours and I'll post some new pictures. While you're waiting you could post some new pics of your tanks.............. )

Your discus are lucky with you guys!

Sigh.. no. We're pretty much back to where we started. "Filled Out" just didn't work, the discus colored down, were cramped, and the tank was filthy. We like it now that we've cleaned it out, but I don't think its show quality. Perhaps if we can get the tiger lotus really bushy it will look a little better.

Thanks for the vote of confidence though! :)

Like I said, I pulled out the rocks, all the sagattaria, all the dwarf hair grass, some of the tiger lotus, and I scraped down as much java moss as possible. I'm just going to focus on growing out the compact swords as well as training the tiger lotus to fill-in low and bushy.

Still have the three plecos: galaxy, green phantom, and bristlenose. Just added 20 rummynose and might go back to grab some cories next week at HAW.

                  • Thanks, as usual I got lucky. That tiger lotus had gone crazy and was growing like wildfire. The problem was that the java moss spread to it and got all over it. It was a complete mess. I'm just going to have to keep a closer eye on it.

                        • The tank looks much better than before. Love the new scape without the river rocks. Also they looks bigger than 2 months ago, are they using steroids ???

yeah, sometimes I'll take the long route out of the house so they don't see me and stare. its scary.

                            • Yeah, the rocks were a failed attempt at tankscaping. I could just never get the look I was going for. I honestly blame most of it on the painted on sky-blue background (that came on the tank). I think we're just gonna leave thinks as they are now and MAYBE sparingly add a plant or two later. Blixia Japonica or another attempt at Dwarf hair grass - but only if I can keep this java moss under control.

And no! No steroids! ..but I am still guilty of feeding them a little flake almost every time I walk past the tank, and I'm still changing water once if not twice a week. We have a few jumbos but most have stopped at "medium-large".
