Peroxide degrades very quickly under light, aggitation, or heat. It will have broken down to water before it would do any help. Bleach will kill viruses. It will wipe out good and bad bacteria too.

Well theres your problem. You keep Discus and do 2-3 water changes a month. Even if you don't keep Discus, you should really be doing water changes every week and with Discus more often than that.

What are you trying to do? Clean your tank so you have no future outbreaks? Or take the easy route? I am now confused.

I still think the best solution is well placed use of fire. Or at least a small charge of explosives.

Yup. Sounds like columnaris too me. It can devastate a tank within 24 - 48 hrs and unfortunately can hop from tank to tank if you transfer water between tanks.
Make sure you don't share nets / siphons between tanks or at the very least use strong net dips.

I would do a huge water change and rinse out all the filters of all the gunk and let the tank sit and fallow for about 4 - 6 weeks. If you want you can dose the empty tank with maracyn 2 for those weeks to make sure all the bacteria is gone. Then do a huge waterchange and start all over.
If you want, you can make use of these 4-6 weeks and do some planting and landscape the tank so when the fallow is up, you have a nice looking tank.

It's worth noting that some antibiotics kill the (gram-positive) bacteria inside the filter, the ones doing the ammonia and nitrite breakdown. Water changes will have to be increased in volume and frequency, as well as re-dosing medication, for effective treatment and toxin removal.

you need to do water changes every day.. maybe every other day.. 50% min.

most discus problems are caused by poor water quality..

most discus problems are solved by great water quality..

think of it like this next time.. only flush your toilet in your house on the days you do water change for your discus tank... would 1 or twice a month be acceptable?! or maybe daily.. :)
