I've already cut and raised the intake tube, but I am still using the strainer. I think I will go to a sponge filter as you suggest Patrick.

This is a good idea if you plan on having fry in the tank. The stock strainer has large gaps, and would enable the fry to get sucked up. Geoff_Tropheus and I were discussing this a while back and came to the conclusion that a sponge or some sort of small netting would help prevent fry from being sucked into the canister as well.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.

That's very true too....I was just thinking of that the other day after I put those Cyps I bought from Jonathan in the new tank with that FX5 in there.

Speaking of that Tim, I had a Holding Female Trewavsae, now she's empty, and there are no signs of fry anywhere.
The FX5 is burping bad and cavitating. When I get home tonight I 'm going to do a open and insepct....I just hope I dont find 50 trewavasae fry in there clogging the damn thing up.380G For Sale $3000 Acrylic tank & stand
