This is a good idea if you plan on having fry in the tank. The stock strainer has large gaps, and would enable the fry to get sucked up. Geoff_Tropheus and I were discussing this a while back and came to the conclusion that a sponge or some sort of small netting would help prevent fry from being sucked into the canister as well.
Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.
That's very true too....I was just thinking of that the other day after I put those Cyps I bought from Jonathan in the new tank with that FX5 in there.

Truth is the cement that holds the bricks and stones of a sane and civilized society together. Remove the former and the latter will crumble.
Speaking of that Tim, I had a Holding Female Trewavsae, now she's empty, and there are no signs of fry anywhere.
The FX5 is burping bad and cavitating. When I get home tonight I 'm going to do a open and insepct....I just hope I dont find 50 trewavasae fry in there clogging the damn thing up.
