Have alot of sand stone and would like to put it in a tank....is this safe or should I not use it.

Yes. As long as it is natural rock that doesn't dissolve, you'll be fine.
You can test it be boiling it in water for 30 minutes. If still hard and solid, then you'll be just fine.
Be certain that you thoroughly clean off ANY rock before you put it in your tank.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
