give me answers if ya got any! I will be purchasing a new tank on Monday and it has been broken down for a few months now according to the current owner. It was setup for salt water and I will be using it to house my tropheus. what is the best way to remove 100% of the old salt remains in the tank. Is an algae scrubber and warm water the best way to go?

Go to your neighborhood Pool supply store and buy a gallon of acid.'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

If it doesn't come out with reasonable scrubbing, soak it in vinegar for a day. You can either fill the tank with a high concentration of vinegar or coat paper/cloth towels in vinegar and let that sit on the glass. The next day, it all should come clean with very little effort. I love vinegar!Vicki

It's a solvent used to clean coffee pots, dishes, plumbing etc. It removes calcium, lime, rust (get it? CLR). You can find it in most stores in the household cleaners section.PLECOS SUCK!

I just read on a couple saltwater sites that CLR does not work and that vinegar and elbow grease can take forever. Multiple sites suggested filling the tank with HOT water and adding OxiClean to the tank and mix well. let sit for an hour or two and then just simply rinse it out. I think I am going to use this suggestion and I will report my experiences.250gallon-Wild Angels, community
