  • spawning killiefishes

a while ago I ordered some daphnia and got some killi eggs
Fundulopanchax gardneri 'LAFIA GOLD' I was told. the eggs hatched and the tiny fry eat like baby bettas and grew up to be beautiful gold with red dot minnows..... I have a dozen + in a 10g tank with a few strands of floating plants and some duckweed. I recently changed out the sponge filter for a HOB and now I've noticed 2 or 3 little Fundul... what evers. I thought killies had to have a mop and the eggs had to be dried out and all this complicated stuff.
Can I just breed them in a species tank and forget all that fancy gear ??
Are all killies this easy ???

'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Depends on the species. I have a self reproducing Mangrove killifish.
Despite it not needing a mate, I have a hard time getting fry as they try to eat their eggs almost immediately, and the fry are REALLY rough on each other.
