    i've never seen those common pleco eat brown/green spot algae... if that is what you got...

        I inherited a Chinese Algae Eater when I got my 55gal. One of the most destructive fish I've ever had. Tore up plants, sand, everything. Luckily it found a new home quickly. Turns out mine was probably an older specimen.
        55g Planted- Malawi and Victorian Cichlids
        35g Cube- P. Saulosi, Petrochromis, Sunshine Peacocks
        20L Planted- RCS, Ghost Shrimp, Neon Tetras, Snails
        2.5g Planted- Snails, RCS
