my pikes are kicking butt in my tank with the same wood?

try adding dechlorinator to the tank.

it may have soaked up some chlorine from the water when you rinsed it.

think I found the problem, my entire bottle of melafix fell in the tank and I didn't see it behind the wood. officially lost one snook and the other looks like it's on the way out too. everyone else is on the bottom but swimming around normally. can you overdose w/ melafix, should I change some water?

change like 75% ASAP!!!

thats enough melafix for like 2000g+ in one dose depending on size of the bottle and how much was left.

I lost everything but the dempsey. I changed the water yesterday and I'm going to do dailys for about the next week. I hope he makes it, but with the ways everything has has been I'm not expecting it. my tank has 3 stainless steel bracers on it, one 12" one in the center and 2 6" on the seides, the botle fell in and got trapped in a top corner behind some floating wood. i didn't even realize that there was an issue until I began to smell tea tree oil thoughout the whole house and I went into the living room to check and saw what looked like a soapy foam on the top of the tank. they accidentally got the whole 8oz bottle

thanks man, the dempsey is looking better today, he swims and breathes normally but is still reluctant to eat. i'm gonna nurse him back to health over the next month or so while at the same time using him to cycle the tank. i'll start looking at re-stocking again then
