I have a piece of pre-sunk driftwood that's been in my tank about a week or so, I just noticed that it has what looks like white fuzz growing on it, is this just algae? how can I fix it?

It's fungus. It isn't harmful to the fish, just looks gross. It eventually goes away, but it does take a little time. It's the same kind of fungus that grows on food left in the aquarium. I would use a brush to scrape it off during water changes. Our Fishhouse

If it's the piece you got from me, all my pieces had it to, it went away after 2 weeks.
Also, that drftwood sinks fast for it's size.
All of my pieces have already sunk.
I will post some pics later.
Overall do you like it?FRENCH FRY!!!

Is it above the water or below? If its above then its fungus if its below then its probably bacteria. Manzanita wood gets a slime coat like substance on it but its underwater and thats bacteria. Well I guess if I read your post better you did say fuzz so that is probably fungus.

ohhh, well, just cut them off and sink the main log with some rocks, btw, i have 3-4 more pieces if you interested, they are much smaller, like 24-30" single branches, would look tight with all of those in there for the fish to swim through.
pm me a offer if your interested.FRENCH FRY!!!
