How does this stuff look in the tank after an extended period of time?

Not nice, poop sits on it and stands out like a sore thumb. Also, the grain is much finer and that means it compacts easier as well as lifts up easy.

Its just fine I have black sand in my 55. Granted its mixed with black gravel... but the thing is look at my post with pics the tank is 4 -5 years old sand gravel that old. I just syphon the sand gravel to pull the sand back on top and it stays unpacked... it keeps the roots from rotting on the plants. if you want i can take a pic from the underside of my tank.
