  • Can a rock be too heavy for my tank?

Setting a 125 gallon tropheus tank. I recently just got some rock but I'm starting to think its to heavy for my tank...what do you guys think?

I have taken some pictures of the rocks to compare.

1st picture the is the biggest rock I have.

2nd is the medium sized rock in comparison to the big one.

So can it be too heavy?

On the big rock it look's like there is one side that has a jagged point sticking out. Knock that off with a hammer. Then it looks like it would have a nice flat bottom with no pressure points. The problem with big rocks is when you remove them. Be careful not to drop it. I think that rock will be fine in your tank though. I'm renting a concrete saw tonight and cutting my rocks in half. Some I will just cut off the bottom so they stand up. We will see how this goes.

You can always buy an egg crate or light diffuser to spread the weight out over a large space
