Re: Blacklight Fish (Glofish or others)

Great.  I was going to go to Walmart and get just a few fish to test out the tank and water to make sure everything is habitable before putting in fish that cost $3.00 a piece.
Any advice on where to look for a tank top?  Would they sell that at one of the fish shops (plan on going to the one in the Village on Friday).

Definitely, they'll have them at almost any fish store.

I wouldn't get fish at Walmart. If you're going to Fish Gallery on Friday, why not get some fish there? You could even get a few zebra danios if they have them, that's what Glo-Fish are, but genetically engineered.

Have you read up on cycling the tank?

I did read a little bit up on the cycling but I will need to study it more and get some litmus paper so I can monitor the nitrogen cycle.  Oh, I ended up getting 4 tropical guppies instead of the zebra danos (glofish).  I also found out the bubble columns I had were part of an undergravel filter system, so now I have an extra air pump.  Who knows I could get an extra tank and see if I can piece together a different type of filter system.  A friend came over and said he has a friend that is big into the aquariums and had a tank of calms that would filter the water (sounded cool).  As long as I am in an apartment I probably won't get anything bigger than 20 gallons for myself.
