newbie...HELP!!!

I have a 55gal tank that we just started. About a month ago we bought some tiger barbs and dalmatian molly's-2 tb's died- I watched the fish for a few week they have been eating and acting very well so we just purchased a fish that I dont have any idea what it is called, it looks albino about 3 inches long what i call pretty fins-please dont laugh- 4 red platy's and as a surprise my husband bought me a small jack dempsey because I said I wanted one. My consern is will the co-habitat ok..
What concerns should I have
Is there anything I should or should not do...

The jack dempsey will grow and most likely eat some of your other fishes.
