Salt for Gourami

Hi

I was at Petsmart today looking at some dwarf gouramis. I am thinking of adding them to my tank but I understand they need a little salt in their freshwater. How much, and will it hurt the other fish? I have neon tetras, cories, plecos, potbellies, and dalmations. oh. and red rainbow sharks. The tank is 20 gallon.

they don't need salt. if you look carefully at all of the fish labels at petsmart you will notice that most of them say "requires aquarium salt". I can guarantee you that there is no salt in the tanks they are in now. you should be just fine. enjoy your little gouramis, just try to make sure you don't get more than 1 male.
