  • just changed to 55 from 30 how long will it take to cycle again?

    I recently changed from my 30 gallon to a 55 gallon tank with new materials...sand,rocks, plants etc....how long will it take to cycle again if i am using the same media in the filte and the fish are included in the aquarium?? please need some advice....also my take temp is staying at 85 is this safe for african cichlids?
    55 gal DISCUS Community Tank)
    45 gallon tank OB Peacock, asst. peacock, with albino oscars community
    10 gallon (fancey guppy, dwarfpuffer, mollies, platys)
    10 gallon Hospital tank
    2.5 gallon dragon betta male tank
    13 gallon plants only tank soon to B saltwater!!!

    If you are using the same substrate (gravel) and filters it should be an immediate cycle. I would recommend transferring some water from the old tank as well. Your temp needs to be brought down.

      well i have my heater set n the lowest setting and as of right now te reading on the far side of the tank is 85 what can i do? i cant set the heater any lower but i do have 3 lights on the top.

        I only use a heater during the winter. My tank usually stays at a constant 76-78 degrees.
