  • using copper tubing for air supply

I have a 150 with cichlids and have been having an issue as far as the tubing to my bubble bars staying under the gravel. Could I use copper tubing for my air supply or can this cause certain health risks to my fish? I have read that as long as the ph is above 7 it would be ok. Any suggestions?

copper is generally a NO, NO for aquariums as it is toxic to reefs and many fish. Not sure about FW, but I would not do it.

No copper. Like Free said. Switch to powerheads skimming the surface for oxygen. Returns from a sump or canister will do the same thing. All you need is surface aggitation. save your air pump to run a egg tumbler, for emergency's or a hospital tank. good luck.

Why is copper bad for water over ph 7?
I ate my fish that died.
