  • Plecos wont come out of hiding

I have 2 tanks one 55 gallon and one 40 gallon long.

One has a zebra stripped plecos the other has an albino pleco.

Neither will come out of hiding.

I put the zebra plecos in the 55 about a month ago and Ive only seen him once a few days ago behind some rocks

In the 40 long the plecos stays in the same spot in the back 24/7.

Anything I can do to make these guys more active?

My plecos hide 90% of the time. If they notice i'm there, they go back into hiding.

I just always taught they were a lot less shy. Reason I say that is because here at the tank at work they have 2 small plecos (3") and they are always out on the open on the glass. They never hide, and I paid good money for the zebra pleco and i never see him lol

Try feeding some veggies at the same time every night right after lights out. I've found that my plecos and other shy fish are just as bad as my cats, if they know when dinner is, they show up on time to be fed.

                Thats's quite normal.
I have 12 zebras and i almost never see them.
If you want, you can create a cave or overhang using wood or rocks or slate or something.
Face the opening toward the front of the tank. So when the plecos go hide under it, you still can see them from the front of the tank.

They can also be trained to come out at feeding time. I typically turn off my filter before feeding them. They have begun to associate the filter stopping with feeding, so now the moment i turn the filter off, they start coming out of their hidey holes all ready to be fed.

most of my plecos right now hide under the biggest rock. they come out when food is out but they are in a tank by themselves.
