  • Puffer and cichlids?

    I have a 40 gallon long

Current set up is (3) Electric blue johani (1) yellow lab and (1) pleco

What kind if any puffer fish can i get without worrying about them getting along? In the future i still want to add some cichlids.

    Thanks

mbu are the only ones I know of that can be kept with other fish, but you still take a chance.

Don't put a Fahaka with them. They will turn into overpriced fish food for him.

My wife brought one home once, I wish I could remember what kind it was. He was pretty small, but he was a serious fin nipper. We had to get him out of there.

I think it was a dwarf puffer. He was an ornery little guy.

With those Africans I can't imagine a puffer that won't eat them or become terrorized. I have successfully kept South American puffers with Curviceps, though to be honest they never behaved too badly even with small glo-lites and tetras. I have seen Bronze in mixed tanks, but the tanks were very large and quite understocked.
