Anybody have any ideas? I noticed it the other day, almost seemed to pop up over night. Looks like diatoms in a saltwater tank... post a picture later tonight...

Brown algae on holey rock and glass?

I actually had the same problem when I started my tank and to me it was like a brown dust I just was looking for a solution and what helped me was reducing the time I have had the light on, I was doing like 10 hours a day and now I do like 6 to 8 depending on if I'm there or not but for me that work, hope this helped you to find a solution.46 Gallon Bowfront, GT & L187b (2)

55 gal- Ilangis ,clown pleco,abn pleco,rubber lip pleco
55 gal-Canary cheek,Ikola,duboisi, and fry
10 gal -fry tank,snails

Actually... more accurately excess silicates.
As your tank matures and other silicate absorbing organisms start flourishing, they will out compete the diatoms and starve them to death.
Leave them alone and they'll go away eventually.
