  • Kind of Filter for a 10 or 20 gallon dwarf puffer?

I want to get a few dwarf puffers and keep them in either a 10 or 20 gallon tank.
Question is what kind of filtration would be best?

Is an Eheim 2215 or 2213 too much?

    Thanks

Ive only been in the hobby about 2 months and this will be my 3rd tank :)

For a 10 to 20 gallon tank....I would just use one or two Sponge filters . They are cheap and will do the job without a problem . But if you don't like the look of Sponge filters ...then I would go with a small HOB (hang on the back) filter . Something like the AquaClear 20 or AquaClear 30 .

        What?

A ac 50 or a 2213/2215 would be great if you don't mind downing a little money to have a killer 10/20g sponge filter if it's just a holding tank

A sponge filter is a air operated filter that uses a sponge to filter the water and hold the beneficial bacteria needed

I know...I know . But I've never really used a 10 or 20 gallon for nothing other than fry growout and/or hospital tank . Also , I wasn't sure as to how much flow those dwarf puffers like .

I've a penguin bio wheel 150 filled with media on my 20 gallon for my pea puffers. an aqua clear 20 or 30 i think is better since it already has a sponge to trap waste and probably more room for media but my bio works great too. I would just go ahead and get a 20 gallon so you can keep more peas and make it into a planted since puffers are smart and love a scenery.

I've got a penguin 100 in my Dwarf Puffer 10gal and the flow is good.
AC30 would be good or 50. the aquaclear HOBs have the adjustable flow so it would be perfect.

Put an undergravel filter in the tank, but rather than using an air pump to power it, use a 2213
