  • SAFE Glass Cleaners for the OUTSIDE of the tank.

I have heard that windexing the outside of the glass is not good. I dont understand why, but if it is bad can someone explain this to me. And if you use a specific product, please tell us what you use.

I spray it onto paper towel (away from the tank) then wipe it onto it. Then wipe with news paper, no streaks!

Distilled Vinegar and water. . .or, I spray windex or whatever on a paper towel in the other room, then go wipe the glass down.

I use to use several of those. They all were streaky and and usually leave some sort of residue that collects dust and other things after you spend all that time cleaning it.

Now I use the same thing on both the inside and the outside of my glass.... a RAZOR BLADE. I take a very sharp razor, and scrape off all the crud/saltcreep/other that is on the glass. It's gross cuz it usually is this grey/black goop by the time I get all the way to the end. Even if I rinse the blades and dry them, they only last about 2 weeks before I have to throw it out and get a new one. A pack of razors lasts me about 6 months, so it's not that bad.
