  • What fish can I keep with....

What other kind of cichlids if any can i keep with the following:

    (4) electric blue cichlids
    (1) electric yellow cichlid

Tank is a 40G long with an Eheim 2215 filter.

Whats the max amt of cichlids i can put in this aquarium?

    Thanks for ANY input.

    More electric yellows.
    Peacocks.

If you plan on keeping all fish until max size, the electric blue cichlids get ~6" . . . and the tank will be pretty full already IMO.
    Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I know my self and I will eventually upgrade this to a 120G set up.

Excuse my ignorance but will any classification of peacocks work?
Also what type of chiclids do I have? Are they like Malawi chiclids or what not?

IMO it depends on what size they are. If they are already picking... then a few more fish will keep them distracted... If they are larger fish already then I totally agree with Tim...you are good to go with a few more yellows. I would pay attention to the male to female ratio. Also, community fish would not last long, anything more aggressive will be after what you already have, and too few will created bullies... AGAIN...my lowly opinion. I would add a bristlenose pleco....they don't get too big and tend to work their whole lives as opposed to regular pleco who gets big and lazy and simply makes big poop to syphon.

I believe they are from Lake Malawi yes. I have had the two types of fish interbreed. I may have just had weird fish.

I forgot to mention I also have (3) L144 plecos in there. Their about 6 months old and I still want them to grow a bit
more so I can put them in the tank with my Oscars.
