Slightly small stand...

Alright i have a stand(old desk converted) that is 3 inches short of 4 ft. Would it be ok to put a 4 ft tank on it and let 1.5 inch hang off on each side or is there some danger since the sides of the frame of the tank are not on the stand?

Use some 2x4 to sit the tank on.
