  • Water Question???

I tested my water today and got these readings
    GH 60 PPM
    KH 240 PPM
    PH 7.5
    NO2 0 PPM
    NO3 20 PPM
I'm concerned about the KH being so high mostly

I've never tested my water before but 240 PPM? That's such a big number

Actually, that's not abnormally high. Since our water comes from surface runoff it can contain up to 700 ppm of TDS. Remember, the KH is alkalynity; the water's ability to neutralize acids, the buffering capacity that keeps the ph stable. GH is typically a measurement of calcium and magnesium ions while KH generally refers to the carbonate content.

its not such a high number when you think about 240 parts in a million which converts to 0.00024. that lets you know how fragile nature is!

Good stuff to know! I still consider myself new to the hobby. Never had any problems with water though even with my overstocked tank so I've never had a reason to test

everything will be fine as long as you maintain seady temps between 82-87 and remember small Discus like water changes and like children sometime it seems as though they have a hollow stomach. be careful not to OVERFEED and keep the tank clean
