  • Shy molly fish

I just brought home 3 lyre-tails mollies, black, dalmatian, and white respectively. The white and dalmatian acts normal and active. However, the black one is so shy, he keeps on hiding in the plants and never come out for the last 2 days. I noticed he came out at night when the lights are off but during the day he's staying out of sight.. I'm kinda worried. I bought 3 of them from the same tank too so I don't know what his deal is.

give him time, probably still adjusting to new surroundings.

I was just worried because it's been hiding for the past 2 days inside the thick wisteria jungle. BTW, got a bunch of red root floater for cheap price on aquabid, will use them to hog all the nutrient from those algae. Probably will have extra for sale once they take off.

I have one who is doing the same thing right now. I moved her into the "maternity" tank on the 16th and 5 days later, she's still hiding behind the filter, lol. She's fine, she's just not in familiar surroundings. She comes out to eat, but that's about it.

they do that from time to time. of course, it wouldn't hurt to test your water, list what the parameters are, what else lives in the tank, all that good info.

Yup he's outside ONLY at night from what I'm observing. I read somewhere suggesting to leave the light off for a day to help him get used the tank. Tank mates aren't a problem in my case since they're all guppies, platy, swordtail, neon tetra.

This is how the tank is right now. If you pay attention the black molly finally got out at around 2:00.. it swam back in as soon as I stand up. The tank is a lot wider than it seems in the video, it's 25x20x20
