Andrew, I'd love to see a pic of your canopy setup.

The $40 eBay fixture has several reviews online and it has really weird streaking issues when too close to the water. This one is twice the price but seems better:

It probably will leave shadows on the edges. You could use the bulbs on a desk lamp and have the lamp point right above the tank.

$80 is a bit much for just a 10gal light IMO.

If its just qt I wouldn't worry much about lighting. If you're gonna keep something else then I myself like LEDs

I ordered the Finnex Ray II 18" from Amazon (and sold by Amazon), $73 to my door. This tank should be growing algae in no time.

I'll get a nice rimless tank for that light after I move.

Amazon Prime is a powerful force, though. And they won't give me any crap if I decide to return it.

Indeed. Free 2 day shipping is hard to resist.

Eh, the 2-day shipping took 3 days, and now that it's here it doesn't fit anyway. The Finnex is evidently designed to go on rimless tanks. There's so much silicone holding the rim on this tank, it's crazy. I'm trying to decide whether to take a razor blade to it, or to just break it off in a few places, or to return the light.

The light also has a ridiculously short cord, and I can't find an extension anywhere. :)

I rigged it up for now. Hopefully I won't dunk it.

                  It's insanely bright.
