  • Arowanas..

Ok guys I know this is a shot in the dark but is it possible to put 2 jardini's and an silver arowana together in a 250 gallon tank?

I have heard that jars are super aggressive I used to have 2 silvers and 1 jar and the jar was about 9 in and it was attacking my 17 in silvers everyday I wouldn't recommend it

yes it would be fine imo if its a group of arowana's they should be okay however if it is 2 then they may fight.

Jardinis are very hit and miss. Some are very peaceful, while others will kill just about anything that moves.

Silvers, they really don't do well with Jardinis 9 out of 10 times in smaller tanks. Plus, a silver alone shouldn't even be put in a 250 gallon tank.

Too keep those 3 together successfully, you're looking at more along the lines of 500-700 gallons.

So, I'm going to have to say no, it's not something you should even consider doing.

Ok about the space thing I know plenty of people who keep them in smaller tanks than I have for example a 150 or a 125. With the 500-700 gallon thing I don't think that is needed. Even on YouTube exactly how many on there that you have seen have a 500-700 gallon tanks? Little right?

just because people do it doesn't mean it works. at best this is extremely temporary. how many people do you know that keep those setups that have had them the way they are for longer than a few months, at best? i knew a family of 8 that lived in a 1 bedroom apartment. it can be done, but they were miserable. why bother keeping a living creature if you won't care for it properly?

Oh yes, I forgot that everyone on YouTube posting videos of their fish are experts on fish-keeping. My apologies.

There is no Arowana that can be kept long term in a 125-150 gallon tank. 180-220 is the minimum for a single jardini, and 300-350 is the minimum for a single silver.
Honestly, two jardinis and one silver would probably be kinda cramped in a 500. All and all, it's a bad idea.

You'd be perfectly fine getting one jardini for your 250, and that is all I would recommend. You would be a fool to try to put any other surface-dwelling fish in there

Lol I'd give up all hope to convince this guy that they need big tanks. It's just how some people are when it comes to housing large fish. Everybody wants to believe blue whales can happily live, survive, and thrive in a 40B.

OP should just go for it and see what happens. while you're at it, add a couple dovii cichlids and i've got a red tail cat for you as well. :)

why ask a question if you're unwilling to hear an answer other than what you want to hear?
