Same, in my tank there is ONE tiny MTS that just crawls around like he owns the place. There's also 10 clown loaches in there that ignore him. :furious:

Clown loaches work great from my expeirences but they didnt work well as my tanks a breeding type community tank. I have lots of bristlenose catfish laying eggs and the loaches were more than likely to eat the eggs.

Il need to search for some assian snails

Clown loaches And Puffer fish will eat snails. both will out grow 10g in no time. then you need to get rid of the fish.
The trap to get the numbers down and assasian snail to finish the job. That is how I would do it.
Also If you trap the snails you can give them to one of the puffer owners here on the box...

              Re: snail problem

Shrimp will hitch rides on snails every now and then, but they only eat the stuff off the shell and not the actual shell of the snail. Shrimp won't eat snails, but snails are opportunists. If they get the chance to eat a shrimp or fish, they will. However, I've never heard or seen a snail eat a live shrimp or fish, and I don't think it's feasible as they're much too slow. They'll usually eat a shrimp or fish if it's already dead.

Also I don't think Tim ships internationally, but you can always ask to check.

I've been looking at several AU government websites, and it seems to me as though the Clea helena -- Assassin Snails -- are not something that you can have in Australia.

Perhaps because they could live in the native environment and would become invasive.

                      mmm
very upseting , as i cant have clown loaches in my tank due to having various babys from my livebearers and eggs being laid from my catfish , the loaches will eat them

So , it will virtualy be impossible for me to get rid of my pest snails in my 6ft tank , would the golden mystery snail ( apple snail ) eat pest snails ?

+1 It could possibly harm the natural habitat and cause an imbalance like what we have over here in the States.

                          snail problem

Assassin snails vs. shrimp: I have witnessed an assassin snail cruise right on over another snail, then capture kill and eat a small Cherry Red Shrimp in my tank.

That may not be typical, but be aware it DOES happen. (I got rid of my assassins and made peace with snails after that.)

Be sure your assassins don't get loose in "the wild" (ditch, drain, lake, yard, etc)... I think they would probably do very well in Texas waters!

Thats a big hit Tys. We aren't aloud to have FWstingrays or Apple snails here. The trap will work to get their numbers down. After that crush any you see on the glass with your finger and if you see eggs vac them out every water change.
I have wanted a turtle (Fly river turtle) from Australia for years. Now they are indangered. They wont ship them here anymore.
