  • heater problems

I got two heaters that I never noticed the light of on. Submersible heaters and I watch my tanks ALOT! Today I put both of them in my new tank to kind of speed up the process and now the lights are going on and off and I haven't noticed a change in the temp. It isn't at the set temp on the heaters, not even close. Anybody have an idea what's going on? Thanks

Maybe a short in the cord. If it was the heater it self it would stay on and never go off.

Are they warm to the touch when the light is on? What brand are they? It might take 24 hrs for the water temp to rise.

One is a marina and one is an eheim jager. They are warm but never seen either light off. The eheim is brand new. They both warmed up their tanks by themselves really quick. Idk it's weird

Not until you get to the high end heaters you set them to 80 degrees and expect them to be that temp. I use a lot of the fluval heaters, and I have to set them to 82-84 for them to get 78-80 degrees. That's why the instructions tell you to do no more than 1-2 degrees at a time.

And yes, on tanks I actually use a heater. My SW uses one and one smaller tank thats close to the ground. The others dont use any

are your heaters completly submerge? if not you should completly submurge them so it doesent get air temps like heat from light ect.
