  • First tank, need help/suggestions...

Hello to everyone, seems like a nice community.

I recently jumped off into the hobby, so still a little clueless on something's.

Just added the first fish yesterday, and the water appears to be a lil cloudier than before.

    Should I be worried?

Its more than likely a bacreia bloom. You added a new source of ammonia, kick starting the bacteria cycle in the tank. How long has the tank been running before you threw the fish in? Also what size tank, what kind of fish, and how big is he?

Tank, 36 gal, had been running for 3 days with no fish, and added one 3" O.B. Peacock yesterday.

As was said its a bacteris bloom. A new tank will grow bacteria that helps brake down Ammonias, Nitrates, and Nitrites. you adding the fish started the cycle. It will clear up but it will take a few days.

You can get some water from an established filter from someones tank and thatll help with it getting some good bacteria in there

You can also use establish or prime... both help with the cycling process

Added this based on recommendation to start the bacteria process.

Time is all it take to clear it up. I have never used Chem. to cycle but I know they make them. Give it 3 or 4 days it will be clear as glass...
