Can you guys recommend a really good, reliable thermometer? I have been through a couple and they all seem cheap and unreliable. I prefer something either digital or easy to read. Thank you.

If you don't mind the price, get a digital infra red automotive temperature gauge (Sears has them) and you can use it to check temps on most anything you want. Just point n shoot, then read the LCD.

Coralife Digital Thermometers are okay. They're cheap, and give a decent reading. I wouldn't say they're extremely accurate, but good enough for me.

Sunny: Can you shoot through glass or do you have to shoot directly at water? I looked at Sears and they have a huge range of models? Do you have a specific one?

I read off the glass for quick checks, but I've found the water itself is a little warmer than the outside surface of the glass so I'll periodically check the water directly as well, and also when it's coming out of the tap during water changes.

This is the one I use: link

+1 I use the same one and for me it works better reading straight off the water

They are nice thermometer. I have one but never even thought about using it for my tanks. I use plane old glass thermometers. the ones that float in the tank. They work just fine for me.

Those work, but not in high flow set ups with fish in it that could mistake those thermometers for a snack LOL
