  • QT tank in garage?

I was wondering about having QT tank in my garage today.

I was thinking about this today and possible having a quick QT tank. I wouldn't be running this every 24/365, just when I have a problem or want to QT the fish before putting them in the main tank.

    Does anyone do this?
How do you have yours setup?
Would it be an issue during the summer months in TX doing this?

As a child my father had the garage full of tanks. In the summy he ran a fan and kepped the door about half way open. It was winter that worried him all the time.
My own QT. tank is in the house with the rest. Its kepped dry. If I need to QT any thing. I have extra media in my wet/dry to put in the filter and its up and running in less then a hour.

My fish room is last room of my house and the room have no AC or heat. And I have 8 Tank and it running fine for both winter and summer. On Summer, I open small window and I run a fan to circulate the air and the temp the room is 86 to 92 degree . On the winter, I just close the windows and it tank run fine with my Eheim Heater 300w ( 20" tall so it heat up the tank very quick.) And Eheim heater is best I know so far.( the best price at http://www.petmountain.com/product/a...m-heaters.html) Aslo the room to cold you add small heater with the temperature setup.

I have mine in the garage but I picked up a used chiller and it will keep the water temp at about 82 degrees even in the heat of the summer when the garage gets to about 110 degrees. The heater goes on a few times in the winter...I do leave it running all year round though....
