Not sure what section to post this question, but wanted to see what others do when in this situation. My AC unit for my upstairs broke down sometime yesterday. Most likely will not get someone out until at least tomorrow to look at the problem.
I have two 10gal tanks upstairs, and neither tank even reached 80 degrees yesterday. Yesterday was cloudy and the air temp upstairs only reached 82. Today however will be in the mid 90s and sunny, so i have no idea how hot it will get upstairs or how hot that will raise water temps while i am at work.
My questions are:
1) Being a beginner to inverts, at what point would nerites and RCS start to have a problem with water temp? Or would plants start to decay? Only fish upstairs are mollies and giant danios and i saw them take a very hot water temp (92F) when the heater never shut off a few months back.
2) What are ways you have used to keep water cooler in a pinch? All I can think of is cool water changes when i get home tonight (if needed) or a fan.
Heater is unplugged in one tank, and the heater in the second tank has a sensor so it shouldnt turn on. Both rooms have a ceiling fan running.
