To hobbiest all fish are pleasing to the eyes. The trick is to choose fish that you like. It doesn't matter what others think. Your fish are not their fish. Goldfish are pretty but are cold water fish, and some grow to be 3 feet long. Other fish like warm. Not all fish will live together.
As for picking out fish. Start looking at picture of fish and see what you think is pretty.Nothing Kills Evil Like a Sharp Stick...

It would help to tell us the size of your tank and whether you intend to add live plants. You mention goldfish in your post. One rule of thumb for fancy goldfish (the double tail varieties don't grow as large as the single tail varieties) is 20 gallons for the first goldfish and an additional 10 gallons for each additional goldfish. Use substantial filtration. Goldfish will gobble up most plants. The exceptions are Java moss, Java fern and the Anubias (and you should use a bit of hardscape to protect where their tendrils go into the substrate if possible).While I'm not reef ready, I am salt ernate lifestyle curious...

Are plants suitable for goldfish, I had alive plants but use to notice them getting sick

i have two gold fish in my aquarium...and i think they dont like plants much..i had the same problem of them being sick
