    Re: second day concern

    1.  Cycling is causing the bacteria bloom (looks cloudy in your tank because its new)  This will go away over the next few days.
    2.  Never mix fishstore water with your water -- to many chances to introduce problems into your tanks later.  Just put them in a bucket (CichlidFan taught me that using a square bucket like a cat litter box is awesome because the net will close the fish completely rather than a round bucket that the fish can escape from.)  Pour fish into bucket.. every 5min add a cup of water from the tank.  When you have doubled the water amount from what came with the fish, net the fish (or hand grab) them and insert into tank
    3.  Remember to add fish in small groups until you have them all using a few days between groups to allow for the extra bacteria to grow in your tank to help cycling it.  If you want to add all the fish at the same time you have to do a lot of water changes every other day to keep the ammonia and Nitrites to overwhelm the fish.  In about 14-20 days your tank will have completely cycled.

Zulaab  With round buckets you run the net around once or twice & reverse direction & the fish will swim right into the net.
Instead of pouring water in the bucket get an air line hose tie a knot into it & do a slow drip in the bucket. Lazy mans way.

Putting fish in days apart will allow the fish to establish territories . This is not good with aggressive fish better to put them in at the same time. Unless you have nothing else but fish & substrate in it or you can cover the tank completely up for at least 24 hours.

        Cope:

Not really adding any new information, but thought I'd share...

I finished cycling my new tank about two weeks ago.   The tank is a 20g and took 6 full weeks to cycle with three white cloud mountain minnows.  The cloudiness happened with me too.  Since it finished cycling, I've been adding a couple of fish each week and testing the water often.  All readings have been good, so waiting out the cycling has worked.  Moral of the story?  Be patient!

            Re: second day concern

well it is the 3rd day.... tank is clear... looks good.... both tanks doing fine... will keep an eye on them.... now I wonder just how much food do I give the fish.. they say just enuff for them to eat in 30 seconds.. Is that right... I feed them and can watch them for about 5 minutes nibbling on stuff floating.... I would say I give them a pinch about the size of a dime... if you were to put it on top of a dime... it would cover it.... is that too little....
Had about 900 gallons now I am tired and selling them off...

              Re: second day concern

you are right....give them only enough that they finish it within 1-3 minutes....if you have bottom feeders in there such as cory's or plecos and the such they will get the stuff on the bottom for ya....
your doing fine......we all learn something new everyday.....

                Re: second day concern

I feed what will be eaten within seconds.....with a new tank set-up I would refrain from feeding too much too frequently....the added load of excess food or increase in fish waste could shock whatever beneficial bacteria you may have causing it to bloom again and possibly killing off all the fish with ammonia spikes.
