Recommended Heaters

This topic has been brought up a lot, and call it laziness to not search all the threads.

What heater would you recommend? I was doing a water change last night, and honestly never unplug my heater during a WC and never have had any issues. some water splashed, hit the glass casing and caused the heater to badly crack.

i know eheim has an auto-shutoff, just twice the cost as run of the mill heaters.

may just call the manufacturer on this one too since its only 6 months old and was working fine. maybe they will just replace it.

i called the manufacturer, sounds like they are just going to replace it no questions asked. no official confirmation on that, just by the phone conversation. was only a $15 heater, but if they just replace it, good customer service. just need to remember not to let the water level get below the heating coils, or unplug it before WC.

She seemed disinterested...i tell her the heater fractured in my tank and she is like "oh ok"...i say i am about a week or two beyond the warranty period...she replies "its ok thats no problem"...haha

sent her my amazon receipt and waiting to see what happens now. i dont think the water will get too cold too fast.

the brand is aquatop. i am usually all for trying to find a bargain, like that $9 powerhead which is still going strong...so i figured a $15 heater for 200W why not give it a try. if they replace it for free this time great, if not i will invest in a better heater.

i agree. i should have noticed the orange light was still on when the level dropped below the coil. my mistake. so if they replace it i will just be more careful. other than that, heater was working great for the entire 6 months

i use fluval e300w and the e200w on both my tanks that have digital thermostats built in , its a very nice features that works well for me but they aren't cheap but well worth the money
