  • Cleanded Filter,, now cloudy water.. What gives

I have a 36 gal fresh water tank...
    3-4 weeks old...
I have been working thru the cycle and Sat I got my nitrites to o/ nitrates to 20/ amm to 0..
I run two filters.. a biowheel 200 with 2 filters stacked and Aqueon quit flow 10..
    I have one angle fish- adult/ black moor goldfish- small/ 1 iridescent catfish- small/ 2 opaline gourami-mid size/ 2 rainbow sharks-small/ 1 platy small/ 1 dan small

My aqueon had been bypassing for a couple of days so i figured i might want to swap out with new but didn't want to loose BB. I did a 12% weekly water change on Sun and dunked the old filter in the old water to clean and put it into a void area in the biowheel so I would not loose BB. Put a new filter in the Aqueon 10. Since then the water has been cloudy..

It was absolutely gorgeous until I messed with it.. What gives...

When you swap out the old filter, you basically lose half of your BB. The tank is recycling again and might take a few days to clear up.

My tank will do that to, after treating it for ick, or doing a massive cleaning.
I only do massive cleaning after medication was used or chemicals what ever you want to call it. It's probably just a small bacteria bloom.
