CF -- its okie.. some people want all that extra cool information.  I like the fact that it gives an approx tank weight when empty (so you know how many pounds you are going to carry for someone like this weekend that is coming up)

Thanks, Zulaab!  My tank weighs about 20 lbs more than I do (empty!)... I'm surprised I can carry half of it.   :)

From the pics you uploaded, very nice btw, it sure looks like that tank has seen better days, but then again, it is a Oceanic I believe and should or could last another 10 years most likely... :)

I did not see one chip out of the five that really concerned me, but I again, am no expert.

There is a chance I might be travelling to Clear Lake this weekend.  If I do I will see about posting a message and I will be more than happy to stop by your house and look at the tank if it concerns you.   I will agree with most everyone here.. if the tank holds water for 24 hours.. It will 99.99% hold water for another 5+ yrs without a problem.  Look for small leaks when/if you have a break down.
They will move slowly and you will have time then to go out and get a new tank and top and replace what you have.

Thanks!  I'm keeping an eye on it and so far there are no noticeable leaks and no moisture on the concrete below the tank.  I'm assuming the silicone inside the tank isn't that critical since it's completely peeling up in one of the back side corners yet there is no leaking.  Still planning on replacing it anyway though, just to be sure!  I need to check the forecast and see if there are any not-so-blazing-hot days coming up.

                      Re: Chipped tank

Just wanted to post an update and thank everyone again who helped me decide to keep the chipped tank!

I ended up resealing the tank, refinishing the ugly stand, and getting it all set up in the living room.  I *think* it might be nearing the end of the cycling process... ammonia and nitrites are both 0, but nitrates are about 10 ppm.  I'm not exactly sure how to tell when it's finished... I need to go do more research on that.  But it's been about a month and a half since the tank was setup.

The current inhabitants are 2 Goldfish (1 common, 1 Shubunkin), 2 Emerald Cory Cats, 2 Plecos, and 3 Mystery Snails.  They aren't all going to stay in there, I've managed to buy a 20 gallon and a 40 gallon tank that I need to get setup after I find stands and lights.  My plan is to put the corys in the 20 (and going to increase their numbers to about 6 so they can have a nice happy school), and I'm going to move the snails in with them.  I'd like to find some weather loaches for the 65 gallon tank since they seem to be compatible with goldfish (and I've added sand to the bottom of the tank in preparation).  I haven't decided what to do with the 40 gallon tank yet though, but it will probably get one of the plecos.

If anyone would like to see pictures, they are at:

                      Aquarium Pictures

Please feel free to point out anything I might have missed or could do better!  Oh, the filter is a Penguin 350 and it is on the side because I didn't realize the center brace was too wide for it to fit on the back of the tank.  I have 2 Penguin powerheads with sponge filters, one is directing aerated water towards the filter end of the tank, the other directs water downward.  Other than that, there is an airstone under the colosseum... let me know if I'm overdoing it.  :-)  I am planning on taking one of the powerheads and moving it to the 40 gallon eventually.

                      Bye!
                      ~Angela

                          Re: Chipped tank

If Ammonia and Nitrites are zero, and there are fish currently in the tank, then its cycled.

'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
