wow man your clever. i simply said that i was not sure about that, then i was corrected so i simply showed that i was not wrong. just defending a comment that i posted. is that not allowed? dick.
Did I ever make any comment that needed you to defend yourself? I could careless what weighs how.......just pointed out that the language filter did not catch your profanity and that was all. No need to get all worked up over petty stuff like little children.
jetchanic - read the above post carefully. Zulaab said that a refrigerator weighs more per square foot.
hey buddy i never said that you made a comment did i. so dont get worked up like a little child! i was reffering to hanson77's comment emplying that i am a "@#$@". and i appologize for the language. i will try to keep it pg-13.
I'm still confused here.....I don't see where Hanson made any comment where it would seem that he was implying that you were a d!##....
he posted this right after me.....which was right after your comment....

To me this just points out that the language filter missed the profanity not only in your post but mine as well.
Then there is this one which is the last time Hanson posted in this thread...

As far as the language goes, we have a lot of young people on here and like to keep this as PG-13 as possible.
I second finfan's statement. Go with the Dubs from Delock. I saw them at thet GHAC meeting and WOW...VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!
I think he was just pointing out why there is suppose be a language filter that should have edited the profanity that was posted above adn then he went on to comment about the Dubs.
I think you are looking too far into things and maybe you though he meant in his initial post that when he said.... " looks like it missed it twice"....you thought that one of the two was referring to you?
I will clarify. My comment was towards EK and the fact that the censors missed it on his post as well....it was a joke.
Jetchanic, I don't even know you so I for sure wouldn't imply that you were anything. If you read most all of my posts, I give my advice when I can and I take jabs at the folks on here that I consider good friends. And likewise, when a jab comes my way it is taken as just that....good friends giving each other the occasional hardtime.
NOW LETS GET THIS THREAD BACK ON TOPIC BEFORE ALEXARAE DOESN'T GET THE HELP SHE NEEDS BECAUSE THE THREAD GOT LOCKED!!!!
I dont like grabbing for my "magic wand" and make post disappear or move.

Alexarae-- if you want me to I will move the posts out -- your call.
Everyone else.. lets talk about Alexarae setup.. give good advice.. as a fellow Katy'ite I would like to know she is well taken care of.

I have what might seem like a silly question.......... If you don't know or not sure about the supports under your floor, how do you figure it out? Do you use a stud finder? Or can you go with: my bathtub faces north/south and holds x amount of water and my big b***t. Should I have my tank facing the same way?
It's really not that big of concern unless you are putting the tank in the middle of the room. Most of the tie in's from room to room in a house are more than enough to hold up any tank that you can get up there.
There seems to be some inconsistency as to how to find the number of pounds per square foot. I thought I would delve into this in a little more detail just to make sure everyone is on the same page.
For each gallon of capacity, I allow 10 pounds in weight. So a 100 gallon aquarium, I say weighs in at about 1000 pounds. Water is a bit less than this, but once you add rock and a substrate, both of which are denser than water, you are getting close to the 10 pounds per gallon approximation.. Now if your 100 gallon aquarium is 60 x 18 inches, it then has a 1080 square inch footprint. (60 x 18 = 1080). That means for every square inch, you have about pounds of weight (1000 divided by 1080. This is .93 pounds per square inch. To find pounds per square foot, multiply by 144.
Now compare that to a person. Assuming each foot is about 10 inches long by 3 inches wide, you have a 60 square inch footprint (you've got two feet after all!). I am sure you will agree that your floor will hold a 300 pound person, with no problem. Therefore 300 divided by 60 equals about 5 pounds per square inch.
Now that you get the idea on how to do the calculations, here is an important aspect to consider.
To figure the pounds per square inch(or foot) for the aquarium, you ONLY consider the actual size of the feet. Last time I checked (about ten minutes ago  ) , most refrigerators have four little legs (the newer ones are on rollers!). Regardlessof being on legs or rollers, this changes the pounds per square feet drastically. Instead of a three hundred pound refrigerator being divided by 9 square feet(1296 square inches), it will now only be divided by 4 square inches (assuming each leg has a footprint of one square inch), giving a weight of 75 pounds per square inch.
The same thing would need to be done to the aquarium to get a more accurate number, but I assure you that a refrigerator would weigh more pounds per square inch that your aquarium.
This is why there aren't many big aquariums on 4 posts. To spread the weight out, you can put 2x4's or 2x6's under the legs and then use the area of the 2x4 or 2x6 as your footprint. I was told to do this to help out with the weight from putting my 210 on the second floor.

With all the said, I think you should do a planted aquarium with a massive school of tetras or rasboras.

Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.
Your tub is usually not a good indicator, because most builders will build in the area where the tub will go, a little extra support.
A stud finder should do you well. You want to find the studs from the bottom not the top of floor as the floor upstairs have additional layers of wood installed to allow them to install a carpet/tile etc..
I have all of my tanks downstairs right now so I am not worried but I am thinking about moving a tank upstairs in the near future. Nothing as large as a 210 like Tim, but I am thinking about putting two 40g tanks next to each other.
Again like Delock was saying, near outer walls works well, and main load barring walls works well because they can hold more.

i am in a discus kick (although i don't have any!!!!), so once again i say do DISCUS, very few freshwater (or even saltwater) fish can match the beauty and grace, and with 100 gallons you can easily have a school of 10 with numerous schools of small tetras or barbs or rasboras

well, it's up and running. I just sat there and drooled infront of it a few seconds ago.
And I must say...there is nothing like a blank canvas....any ideas on what to fill it with?
I ran to the LFS to get some decor and ended up with a 30-35gallon jebo R362 aquarium.
Dang it. Oh well...now we have a big blank canvas and a small blank canvas.
I am open to all suggestions, please note though...the LFS here are not that great as far as freshwater is concerned.
I miss Houston, Galveston isn't really my thing. I would have enjoyed this when I switched to saltwater a year ago.
Oh well....let's figure out what to put in it.
NOTES:
Sorry guys, I'm not a cichlid fan (no offense guys)
I need a shrimp-friendly environment. (Eklikewhoa and I have always had a small obsession)
All advice is appreciated and valued. 8O
