Oh yeah, they run WAAAAYYY too hot to go over glass tops.  You normally have to run a chiller on the tank to keep water temps down.  The T5's that I have over my 30 barely put out any heat at all with 4 bulbs.  Grant it, they are only 24W each but you can run your hand under the fixture and barely feel anything.  I didn't even run the fans because I didn't see the need and they were quite noisy.  My new fixture doesn't even come with fans if that tells you anything.  It's made by Sun Blaze and they are quite affordable.

So what was the choice of fish???

There is a nice big fat Pleco in the fish market. May make a good one to start your tank off with and from the looks of the pictures....it likes to take walks on the patio.

I'm thinking of doing a planted tank...well, actually...I already ordered some giant marimo balls so I'm semi-planted.  
I'm kind of thinking about a Shrimp-a-dise.
Mostly shrimp at the bottom, maybe a herd of cories.
Tetras/Rasboras at the top.

Okay, I went to Phd pets...Bill is indeed one of the nicest guys I've met in the fish business.
He's very knowledgeable and helpful. He seems like a guy who really does care about his fish.
He won't order them if he can't keep them healthy. He is very very particular about his water quality and the health of his fish.
He even gets monthly reports of the water coming into his store. I wish his stock was larger...but I did find some STUNNING
bristlenose plecos there..very affordable.
Wesley...do you know if he special orders fish? Hopefully he can order what I want, there aren't even any tetras there.  :badsmiley:
