  • The New 120 getting ready

Just wanted to show everyone the new 120g I picked up a while back. I am still not sure what I want to do with it. It has extra thick glass and perimeter bracing. Most likely for a reef tank.  I built an inexpensive stand for it.  Its drilled for a center back overflow box but I may use a 2260 on it.   Also have not decided on a canopy or open top. I am still looking at lighting options as I did with the 140g.

The measurements are 48x24x24 with Black trim.

Built the stand out of pine and stained with cherry red stain.

Also have the 140lbs of holey rock being prepped for it. Thanks Jetchanic!!!

I have not decided to sell it or use it yet. So I wanted to show pictures to everyone here(the family) and see what you guys think.

    Looking good tx.
    Keep the pics coming.

A puffer sure would look good in that tank.   8)

            humm...maybe just one stingray then.

Okay, now I'm being selfish...I just want to live vicariously through you and your stingray dreams.  :snooty:

I wanted the stingray so bad....I guess that I'll just buy one of those little flounders and tie a little tail on him.

Re: The New 120 getting ready

Actually I was building this tank up for one of our new members CWsGirl.  She doesnt know if she will get it now as her brother was just killed in a boating accident in Denver this last week. She is focusing on that and will be gone dealing with family business for a while.  I may just hang onto it for her and wait until the dust settles.

CWsGirl.    If you read this . Our thouhts and prayers go out to you and your family. From reading the news Your brother touched so many people and made a huge impression on everyone around him. He will be missed by many. Be strong as your family needs you most now.

Re: The New 120 getting ready

Ok wanted to update.   Got a 2260 now and just need to finish the stand(cut holes in the top) so I can plumb it.   Also needs another coat of stain and a little finish work.

Last bit of Holey rock has been bleached and going to get set out for a few days.  No biggy.    Got a light 8O  .  Man did I get a light. Ok I had no idea this thing was going to be this bright. But hopefully we will be good if I decide to make this a reef tank one of these days. Its a 48" Coralife Aqualight Pro light fixture 250w hqi w/pc's and moonlights 2 mth old upgrade to
Lumatek 250W/120V Digital Ballast's & 14k reeflux bulbs The power compacts are Atinic bulbs.

So let me know what ya think. Is this to much for freshwater? Everyone told me last time with the 140g that I should go with some MH  so here it is.     With the tank having no center brace, it should be very even through out the tank. OK I know the pictures are bad but hey. And the third doesnt do it justice because there in nothing in the tank.  Maybe I can put the cat in there or something as a reference.

Hey, I hear one of the HPD's helicopters is missing their search lights....  I think you should give it back before you get into real trouble.   :)

Ok after seeing how great Delocks tank looks with this same type of light, I went out this morning and found another and purchased it for the 265g.  Yes I know what you are going to say.....a 48" for the 7 footer.   It looks great and 100% better  just needs to be longer

Well thats what this post is about.

I want everyone to keep thier eyes open for a 72" with 3 MH in it. I will trade up plus some cash. If I locate one then I may just buy it and sell this one.  I just want to steer away fromt he cost of a new one @  $1500.
