  • Glass Cleaner

What do you use to clean the outside of your tank & how often do you clean it ?
Inquiring minds want to know - Can chemicals actually go through the glass and get into your water ?

I have been using Sears Optical eyglass cleaner because they gave me a big bottle when I bought my glasses
It comes with the following warning.  Caution do not ingest, contains isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) ~ not for contact lenses.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Windex or The Works.  But I don't spray directly on the glass.  I spray on the paper towel first because I'm paranoid about the mist going into the water.  And I clean it all the time.  Nothing more frustrating that to have the perfect photo op, and have a huge water spot on the glass.

I also use Windex and spray it on the paper towel.  I have always cleaned the glass this way and haven't had any problems.

            Re: Glass Cleaner

I have never believed that alcohol can seep through a glass, but excessive fumes may enter the tank if it's not covered.  It stands to reason that the warning you are seeing is what I call a dummy warning.  Duhh, stupid, don't put alcohol on your soft, or hard contacts and put them in you eyes.  And the only kind of alcohol that should be ingested is the fermented kind   .  It's a shame they have to put such explicit warnings on products to protect themselves from our lawsuit happy society.  I use Windex sprayed on a paper towel to clean the exterior of my tanks.
