  • Need some help with an Eheim

I just picked up a RR 200 Oceanic complete with w/d and Eheim filter, my problem is that I try and run the eheim and it will not siphon in the pickup.  I have tried pouring water down the hose to get it going, but nothing is working except for the big mess I made, opppps.  Any help would be appreciated, or if someone lives in the League City area that knows about these can stop by.

If you have a python hook it up to the garden hose and siphon through the output side of that filter with it running to get it started.

If you do not then get a powerhead and while the intake and powerhead is submerged put the powerhead on the intake side of the filter to force water through the intake or just hook up the water hose to the intake side to force water through the intake.

      Which Eheim do you have?
the pro models have a huge button that you can depress to prime it

The classic models should start up as long as the canister is full of water. Otherwise you can attach a long hose to the outlet and suck on it.

I usually just start the siphon at the outlet side also.

Stupid suggestion here, but are you sure your quick connect valves are open and not blocked if it has them?

I won't mention how I came up with that suggestion   .  Check to be sure you don't have any crimps in the lines as well.  I can usually start the siphon by sucking on the outlet hose too.  Does it run at all when you turn it on?

Make sure your impeller is working and in good shape.... on old units the magnet separates from the impeller blades... makes a lot of noise but won't work.

Turn your garden hose on and force water through the intake while having it submerged and see if that will start it.

On top of the filter is usually where Eheim puts their model number.
Any chance you can find that model number and let us know what it is ?

Sounds like an old 2260... Are you sure the pump is on and the seals are in tact?
