You know all I am figuring is you have to find the code for where they do the action and then add it there ? I dont know how vbulletin is setup, but its usually a TON of modules stuck together.. and finding the correct one *Good Luck*

Yes, I have them and I'll go ahead and add the link to them...the delay was that I was kind of wanting to put them in the Articles area, but in the meantime, I'll create a link to them on the black button bar on the frontpage. :)

When you make code changes in vBulletin, it's best not to change the core code. Because if you change the core code, it makes upgrades very difficult. I learned that from the last version. All the additional menu changes were done in the core, and it caused me major headaches each time I had to apply a patch or dot version upgrade (not to mention it increases the amount of time I have HFB down for maintenance). It's really easy to break base functionality that way. The other way is to write a plugin and then use a hook. Since vB stores everything in the database, I also have to see how the URL stuff is currently stored and make sure anything I write has a place to go. There are just a lot of considerations with that request.

In the meantime, you could do something like this. So...when you are putting a URL in a post, just type your words like you would normally. Then, say you are including a link to the Local Fish Store map. Just type those words --- Local Fish Store --- then highlight them, click the Add Link button, and paste your link in. That way you don't even have to leave the post or do anything fancy to get it to show something other than the long URL.

Oh, I wasn't needing them right now! I just didn't see them and was wondering. If you'd rather wait and put them in a particular spot, then do that! I know writing code can be a bear. Thanks!

Thank you, but putting the link to them is a piece of cake. It's already done. :) But I may move them later on. :)

Oh, and the formatting isn't great on the profiles, but it's just a temporary solution.

You mean visually? Because the content should all be the same...with additional content.

yes...its going to take some getting used to. I guess its my fault for not checking for a couple weeks. Life has been hectic not only holiday wise, but health as well. Trying to get more things figured out, and then I log on, and things look different...it was a change I was not ready for I guess....but it does look like you have been hard at work, and I am sure I will get used to it, I think it was shock more then anything...lol...I actually logged off, then logged back on thinking I was not at HFB...

I know...I hate change too (and I'm a city-girl) ). But with technology, it's inevitable. It seemed a shame that we have all this great information trapped in the forums, with no place to put it...hence the new article and blog sections.

My main goals are to make the info easy to find, the info easy to share, and the visual easy on the eyes. If any of these things misses the mark, I've failed. I know it's a big adjustment for a lot of people, so once things settle in, if anything still feels 'off', please let me know and I'll look at options, and if their are options, we can run a poll to let the people vote on any significant changes.

                    Deal?

Sure. Instead of bookmarking the link with the search id, bookmark this URL... http://www.houstonfishbox.com/vforum...e=vBForum_Post

You'll have to edit your current bookmark though, because once you copy this link into the address bar and hit enter, it's going to redirect and add a searchid. So you can't resolve the page, then create the bookmark. Just make sure you create a bookmark using the URL exactly as it is in this post.

If you need more steps, let me know.

On IE 6.0 my "quick links" pull down is covered over by the text of the choice to the left (which I can't read). Minor issue as I am still able to click the pull down.

Traci - The site looks great (as always). Thank you.

                              Thanks!

There have been quite a few issues reported to the vBulletin team concerning IE6. I'm not sure they will address them since it's a fairly old browser version (considering there are 2 newer versions out there). But I will keep an eye on things and be sure to install any updates that might address IE6 issues. :)
