FIXED: HOTMAIL, LIVE, MSN email users - READ THIS!

If you have a hotmail.com, live.com, or msn.com (or any other Microsoft email address), this is important for you to read.

For some reason, HFB has been blocked by Microsoft from sending any emails to anyone with a hotmail.com, live.com, or msn.com email address. I have been working on getting this resolved for weeks now. I've confirmed that we are not sending any spam, that our server has not been compromised and used by anyone else to send out spam, and that we are following all the security requirements to prevent the use of our server for any kind of malicious activity.

I've submitted the form to them twice to get us taken off their blacklist, but it hasn't happened yet. I'm going to continue trying to get this resolved, but I just wanted to let everyone know that if you use a Microsoft email address, you won't receive any email notifications. This includes the email you receive when you first register. This is a problem because without confirming your registration, you will not be able to post. I've been trying to manually confirm those of you who do register with a Microsoft email address, but I may miss some.

Until I get this resolved, if you register using a Microsoft email address, you are welcome to email me at admin@houstonfishbox.com and let me know so I can put you in the correct group and allow you to post. This will not fix the problem with receiving notifications, but you will be able to post.

Another option is to create a gmail or yahoo account to use with HFB. You can then set up that email account to forward all emails to your Microsoft account. If you want to do this and need help setting up forwarding, I can help you get that done. Just let me know.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience. It's very frustrating for me, so I know it must be frustrating for those of you with a Microsoft email account.

That explains why I didn't get a notification email through Hotmail!!!!
And I thought something was wrong with an information that I provided to register......

Yeah, I'm really sorry about this. I should have notified everyone sooner, but I honestly didn't think it was going to take so long to get it resolved. We had the same problem with AT&T about a year ago, but that was taken care of in about 3 days. I've pretty much hit a brick wall with Microsoft. All I can do is resubmit my request every so often in hopes that someone actual looks at them and fixes it on their side. I've done everything right on my side.

Maybe if you move the server to Azure using this nifty app from FullArmor, you might get your Microsoft email problems resolved :P

thanks a lot tracy,
in my case i just opened another gmail account, since i read the email notifications on my iphone most of the time anyways, so adding another gmail account on iphone is pretty much the same thing as before lol...iphone would show all the emails of all my email accounts at once so i still dont miss anything and can get the notification real fast...

Okay, so I sent the 'remove me from your blacklist' form to Microsoft for the 3rd time last night, and you know what they say....3rd time's a charm! I got a response this morning saying that they have removed our IP from their blacklist. They said that we were blocked because "the majority of all the email that you send has been judged to be spam by our internal filtering system" which doesn't make sense because the emails are never unsolicited and are the stock vBulletin notification emails. I've asked for specifics so I can change it, but I doubt I'll actually get an answer.

It could take 24-48 hours for the change to propagate through their servers, but hopefully all you Hotmail, Live, and MSN email users will see some notifications pretty soon.
