    A new face from the DFW Fish Box

    I live in the DFW area, obviously. I currently own ten aquariums with three more waiting in the wings. I have a 90 with mainly angels and discus, a 75 with chiclids, a 55 with goldfish, a 60 planted with nano fish and a 30 that will soon be a planted cardinal tank. The rest are ten gallon ones with things like endlers and cherry shrimp. I have one ten gallon in my classroom that contains STURDY fish only since the kids take care of it and tend to lovingly feed them generously if I take my eyes off of them! My daughter lives in the Houston area. I will be coming down to see her next week. What are the best places to go for fish and plants? Any that have an online list to shop from? Thanks and Howdy! Yes, my daughter is an Aggie!

    .....welcome to the HFB.....and we certainly welcome you to Houston....in our retailer's postings on here you will find a nice idea of local places to check out. I think if you click on the link at the top of the front page of the site to the Houston Aquarium Warehouse you will be happy with not only his selection of discus, angels, but he has the nicest plants that you could ever want to choose from. The owner is Dan and he's very up to date on his species he carries there. and he's a really nice guy to chit chat with about the hobby/addiction......)

      Welcome! I think you should go to Houston Aquarium Warehouse. I have not been there, but Mr. Dan is very helpful and his fish look great in pictures!
      Fish are people too, they just have gills.

        Well there are several good places to go.
        If you are coming to Houston for the first time to go look at LFS's I can recommend you should go see HAW (Houston Aquarium Warehouse) and I would hit Fish Ranch down in Rosenberg, and also hit Fish Gallery. Fish Gallery has a store up in Dallas, so you might have been to that one already. There are several pet stores in and around Beltway 8 and Bellaire/Beechnut. Several of these stores you will find a lot of items at a nice discounted price. Quality not near as high as the three first stores.

          I love The Fish Gallery. That is my favorite LFS in Dallas and I will certainly check out the Houston one. I didn't think to look in the retail sponsors spot so thanks for that suggestion, fishlady! It seems that several of you seem to like the Houston Aquarium warehouse so I will definitely go there too.

                Well I have come and gone from your fair city. I visited the Fish Ranch, Houston Aquarium Warehouse and the Fish Gallery. Bought fish at all three places so I went home happily with a car full of fish! Thank you for all your suggestions. And thank you Dan, you were wonderful!
