      Re: Hello

actually I'm from Hawaii, but went to school at USC where my roommate always said that so I picked it up from him.  He also called everyone "Hoss" ... is that a Northern thing too?

There are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.

The "wicked" thing is very Boston, but the "Hoss" thing I'm not to sure where that one came from...I always thought it was more a Southern thing???

I thought Hoss was a character on Bonanza! I do believe that Bubba is a southern thing, and as far as wicked I have no idea!

             naps

I may have missed it, but where in the north are you from?  I consider anything north of Dallas to be northern US

Great looking tanks, looks like another plant person on board.  Are you familiar with NASH, they're a local plant group?

That darn edit button is always disappearing on me, I think it just has bad days and doesn't want to work

              Hey there!!

I'm from Cleveland, OH, pretty North...just cross Lake Erie and you're into Canada. We moved here about a year and a half ago.
And actually I'm not familiar w/ NASH at all, any info would be great!!
I'm pretty excited that I found this board, since I'm pretty new to Houston I'm sure that I'm missing out on lots of the local secrets!!
Also thanks for all the nice comments!!

NASH doesn't have their own website but they are on Aquatic Plant Central.  Here's a link to their forum:
                Nature Aquarium Society of Houston

They post their meeting info there.  I haven't been to a meeting in a while but I think they're usually on the  first or second Saturday of the month.  Maybe someone else is more up to date on their meeting schedule.

My parents were from Cleveland, but migrated to Texas way back when. I was born in Wichita Falls, Tx. I used to joke that I was the only Texan born to 2 Yankees! My Dad was from So. Euclid, and Mom from Shakers Heights. My Grandma lived in a very SAxon community. I remember going to the Saxon Acres, and other German type places. My Aunt & Uncle live in Lyndhurst. I haven't been there since 2000 and when I was it was in April, and it snowed! I had boots but they were pretty weeny compared to what I needed!

                    Local secrets . . . well I know a few but since you area a Yankee, I don't know . . . we'll see about that.
