  • New Box Head

I am new to fishbox, but have had many aquariums. I recently bought a new tank from a guy and he said I should check out this site. The new tank is my largest yet. 110 gal. Currently have a 45 gal and 5 gal. Have had tanks from 5-55 gal. about 8 total. I have Cichlids, some cats, and a bubble eye goldfish for my wife.

the tank I bought was just the tank and I plan to build everything, so I do have questions about lighting. Which forum do I ask that question in?

Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I have Africans. Had a large mixture, but a sickness took most of them. Managed to save some, but the only ones I have left are hybrids that some of my fish made. Still don't know the true parents but they are all orange.

              Howdy! Welcome to The Box.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

I would like to do a step by step thread about my building of my new tank from start to finish. Should I use the DIY thread? Currently leak testing 110gal. Will include stand/ hood build, filter selection, background build, etc.

I would recommend putting in it a forum depending on what you intend to keep

                            Example

Freespool's 110g Mbuna journal (African Cichlid)

My 110g Guppy Tank Journal (Livebearers)
                            120g - Tropheus Moorii Kambwimba

                              Good point!

You could also start with the DIY section, just because you're building so much of this from scratch, and then if you want to start a journal-type thread, you can link the actual building of the tank in the first post.

Hmm, I hope that made sense...

Whatever you decide, don't worry about it too much. Just be sure to post pictures, or else you'll really cause an uproar!
