  • Magician, New to HoustonFishBox

Hi guys, My name is Dai, and I'm a Local Area Magician.

Growing up I always had fish, But Never knew what cycling was or anything like that. I always did as my grandparents did and Put the fish in the sink and did weekly complete water changed and scrub downs... and we wondered why all our fishes died... lol

But now, after being employed at the Pasadena Petco as the Dog Training Manager[Hobby], I've learned a lot from our aquatics guy and he has helped me out with my current tank which is only a 20h, I'm adding a 40gal Breeder this next month.

Currently I have a 1.5" Cumberland Slider Named Donatello, 1.5" Comet Goldfish, a 3" Opaline Blue Gourami, A 3.5 Pleco, 2 Japanese Algae eating Shrimp and a crayfish[Little jerk, don't care for him/her much.] yes all in the 20h, I know i'm a horrible person. BUT at least I'm keeping up with my water changes and my water is very clear and cycled. The Turtle doesn't bother the fish [hence why there's a comet in there, he wouldn't eat it when it was tiny. =/] which is odd I know, i'm just as confused as everyone else.

The Turtle and Pleco and Crayfish are going in the 40 Gal Breeder, with a couple of wild caught Texas Cichlids that are currently in quarantine. I know I'll have to get a bigger tank eventually for the turtle, at least 120gal but I've got to do it in steps. With the Texas Cichlids in there with him I'll need at LEAST a 150 - 210. I figure by the end of the year I'll be able to have a 150 or 200. At least I'm hoping so.

I've also got a Ball Python who is 6 years old and she hatched in my hand, she's in a 75 Gallon tank that used to be a S/W tank that was given to me after they killed their fish. I also have a rather large Feline that lives with me and my Baby Harley, the american Pit bull terrier who's 5 and also an E.S.A. [Emotional Support Animal] for me. So yeah, you can say I'm an animal person, and I'm a Strolling Magician[Career], I do many Private parties, Trade Shows, Country Clubs, etc. I'm not a kid magician, anything under 14-15 I'll find you someone else. I prefer to do magic for adults. So Hi! I'm New, just saying hello, how is everyone?

Wow! Really interesting introduction. Welcome to the box! This is a fun forum. :)

What kind of pleco do you have? You should share some pics with us of all your friends, esp Donatello. That one was always my favorite TMNT.

I assume the Pleco is just a Common but I like him a lot. Once I finish treating Ich, I'll Take some pictures. I had bought a Pictus Cat from Petsmart [first mistake] Because my Petco doesn't carry them. Well, it gave my tank Ich, so I started a salt treatment, then I read that's a no no for scaleless catfish so I got Ich Attack, the 100% Natural Herbal one, but unfortunately it was too late for the Pictus =(. The pleco was showing spots but they've cleared up. I'm going to keep treating for 2 more weeks because I don't have an adjustable heater to be able to raise the temp. So my water is nice and Brown right now. Looks like It's flooded with Tannins, once I have my new filter I just ordered from Ebay [AquaTop CF-400UV] and this Treatment is done and the water is nice and Clear we'll have some pictures up. I may say screw it and take some pictures anyway even though my tank is bare for treatment.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
